Stage 3 - Building the new bridge over the Campaspe River.
Major works are now underway to build this new bridge. This bridge will incorporate a separate cycling and walking bridge.
From early June 2020 we began building the foundations for the bridge using a construction technique known as piling.
Piles are reinforced concrete columns that transfer the weight of the bridge structure into the ground to create a strong foundation.
Did you know- Each pile will measure up to 15 meters in length and will weigh about five tonnes. We’re using a piling rig to hammer the piles into the ground, reaching depths of around 40 metres.
